Create and Promote a Media Kit

Creating a successful media kit can greatly contribute to earning media visibility. Whether your brand, product, service, or person is just starting or has been in business for decades, a media kit is essential to professionally communicate with the external press who can influence your sales.
Here are some essential ingredients for a media kit:
Introduction and Background Information:
- Company overview: Briefly describe your organization's mission and key achievements. But not just that. You need to include the “why” of the business.
- Executive bios: Include bios of key executives or spokespersons. The executive bio must be authentic, personable, and relatable.
Press Releases:
- Recent and relevant press releases highlighting key milestones or news about your company.
Media Contact Information:
- Clearly provide contact details for media inquiries, including names, phone numbers, and email addresses.
Company Fact Sheet:
- Summarize key facts about your company, such as founding date, locations, number of employees, and other relevant statistics. Some people cringe at doing this since they are solopreneurs and want their organization to appear larger. Don’t do that. Use humor. I work with a virtual team worldwide but the “company” is me. On my contact page, I wrote, “psst. It’s just me.”
